The CPA examination is now a computer based test, replacing the previous paper and pencil examination.  For general information regarding the CPA Examination, you may review the official CPA examination website.  On this site you will find CPA exam simulation questions to help you become familiar with the new computer based format. The CPA Candidate Bulletin provides good guidance on the process.  The site also has information on registering and scheduling for the Uniform CPA examination.

You may access a free CPA Examination preparation webcast entitled "Candidates and Students: Strategies for Taking the Uniform CPA Exam" by:

• Clicking here and following the steps to make sure your computer system is ready to view a Webcast. It's a simple process that just takes a couple of minutes.
• If you do not have the PowerPoint application on your computer system, you can download a free PowerPoint reader from Microsoft.
• Download the PowerPoint slides
• If you had already registered on the site for the live webcast, the webcast should automatically launch. If this does not occur, you can click 'log in' and simply input your E-Mail Address. If you have not registered previously, simply follow the directions to log in. If you experience problems, please call the AICPA at 1-888-777-7077, option 3 for assistance.

In Utah, you will need to make application to sit for the CPA examination through:

To qualify to sit for the CPA examination, you must meet requirements set by the Utah Board of Accountancy and the Utah legislature.  The Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing (DOPL) oversees the CPA licensure process.  DOPL is part of the Utah State Department of Commerce. You may link to the CPA statute and rules from the DOPL website.

Once a candidate has been passed the Uniform CPA examination, they will be required to pass the Utah Law and Rules examination and the AICPA Ethics Self-Study Exam (required to complete the Utah licensure process) may be purchased directly from the Utah Association of CPAs.
